Painted Plates

Many years ago, after accompanying a ceramicist friend of mine to Ubaldo Grazia’s great workshop for ceramics in Deruta, it was suggested that I paint my own plate. Since I know my limits and just how difficult it is to get the right colours when painting and firing ceramics, I asked if one of the artists could do it. I chose a bisque that looks like a sushi plate and presented them with the painting (see below) I thought would be a good design.
