Pigs and Lighthouses Part 2

This is the finished painting of Elliot the Pig and the lighthouses on the beach for one of the children’s book.

I will tell you about Elliot’s journey later on, but for now, the technical journey of this painting was as follows: After I made the paper and let it dry for a few days, I drew the design on drawing paper. This was then traced over, using tracing paper. Afterwards, I re-traced the tracing paper drawing onto the mulberry paper. (See Pigs and Lighthouses post http://jeantori.com/2012/03/pigs-and-lighthouses/ ). Then I painted it with a water-soluble paint called Tempera.

I think Elliot’s journey to the island in the distance will take less time!

(PS. Today is St Catherine of Bologna’s Day, the patron saint of artists.)
