Pigs and Lighthouses

When I think about all the things that I love to paint, one of my favorites is the lighthouse. This may be due to growing up by the sea in Portsmouth and sailing a lot, but I also think their design juxtaposed against the shore and the sea hold a special fascination.

Fortunately, in two of the children’s books there are going to be lighthouses due to the storyline. Here is my drawing on mulberry paper of Elliot the Pig sitting on the beach surrounded by lighthouses. Light at the end of the tunnel?!

And here is a painting of Ralph the Dog from the first book, “Leo’s Birthday Party” with the lighthouses in the distance.
